Public Sector Manager

Are you a commercially driven relationship builder with experience working within the public sector? We're looking for a proactive Public Sector Manager to join our team and help drive growth, secure new opportunities, and strengthen relationships across our public sector customer base.

What You'll Do:

Identify and secure new public sector opportunities through procurement portals, frameworks, and tender opportunities.

Build and develop strong relationships with local authorities, housing associations, NHS organisations, education providers, emergency services, and other public sector bodies.

Manage and retain existing framework agreements while supporting future re-tender opportunities.

Coordinate tender submissions and work closely with internal departments to ensure successful bid outcomes.

Develop strategic account plans to maximise sales growth and profitability.

Create and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress and forecasting future business.

Work closely with branch teams, suppliers, and colleagues across the business to deliver exceptional customer service.

Attend customer meetings, industry events, supplier visits, and trade shows when required.

Analyse performance, monitor KPIs, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Support the growth of the Public Sector Department as a key point of contact for customers and stakeholders.

Previous experience in Public Sector, Business Development, Key Account Management, or Sales Management.

A strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, frameworks, and tendering procedures.

Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.

Commercial awareness with the ability to identify profitable opportunities and protect margin.

Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Experience within the builders' merchant, construction materials, or wider construction industry would be advantageous.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

A self-motivated and results-driven approach with the ability to work independently.

Hours of work: An average of 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7.30am - 4.30pm.
