Full Job Description
Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As a Local Authority we are striving to support the people of Hartlepool to the best they possibly can be and would like to recruit dedicated, driven and committed people to help us achieve that.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join us as an apprentice on the Public Health Apprenticeship Degree programme.
This post will be fixed term for 3 years.
You will work as part of the Public Health team committed to improving health outcomes for the people of Hartlepool. You will work across a variety of programme areas including children and young people's health, adult health and wellbeing, and health protection.
You will have the opportunity to develop and promote public health strategies, projects and programmes. and will have responsibility for the delivery, coordination, and facilitation of your work. The role will also involve opportunities to work with other partners, including local health organisations, the voluntary and community sector and other teams across the Council.
During your apprenticeship, you will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in public health by achieving a series of learning objectives to become a competent practitioner.
You'll spend time on formal learning through Teesside University and will get additional protected study time. The rest of the time you will be applying your learning from the academic element of the apprenticeship to day-to-day work within the Public Health team such as on placements or working on projects and other work-related tasks.
The degree course is run over 3 years and will take the form of 1 study day a week at university and the rest of the time on placements, work and agreed study time. This is a big commitment and needs to be considered carefully.
