East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking for a Public Health Officer to support our Health Protection and Sexual Health programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to work on initiatives that help prevent illness, improve sexual health, reduce health risks and tackle health inequalities across our communities. Based on the job purpose and responsibilities outlined in the role profile, the successful candidate will support the delivery, coordination and evaluation of public health programmes, working with a wide range of partners including health services, schools, community organisations and local agencies. What you'll do You will:
- Support projects and programmes that improve sexual health and protect the public's health.
- Work with partners, communities and services to deliver prevention and awareness activities.
- Use data and evidence to identify needs, understand trends and evaluate outcomes.
- Develop resources, briefings and communications to support public health campaigns.
- Help coordinate commissioned projects and contribute to service improvement.
- Support training, engagement and awareness activities with professionals and community groups.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate: - A degree or equivalent qualification in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education or a related health or social care subject.
- Experience of supporting or coordinating public health, health improvement or health promotion programmes.
- Knowledge of sexual health promotion, risk reduction and prevention approaches.
- Understanding of health inequalities and population health.
- Experience of working collaboratively with partner organisations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and evidence.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
