Position Details

Public Health Intelligence Analyst (Procurement - Anchors)

• Band 6 - Full Time (36 hours per week)
• Fixed term for 6 months - available on fixed term contract or secondment basis
• Waverley Court, 4 East Market Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8BG (hybrid working)

This is a data intelligence role for a candidate looking to apply and develop their (financial) analytical skills while contributing to NHS Lothian's intention to use its spending power to drive economic growth in the region.

NHS Lothian is offering a unique six-month development opportunity for a data analyst (Agenda for Change Band 6) to work closely with staff working across Public Health Intelligence, Anchors, and Procurement. The post holder will analyze local spend data in detail to help inform procurement decision-making in line with the Anchor Institution ambitions of the organisation.

This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who want to develop their analytical skills while gaining experience working across NHS departments especially Procurement and Public Health. The successful candidate should have an understanding of data and how it can be used to inform improvement work. Experience of working with procurement data would be advantageous. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative to manage and prioritize a busy work schedule and have the ability to capture, analyze, interpret, and present complex data in a way which enables ease of use and understanding by a range of audiences.

Candidates will have a degree plus additional specialist knowledge to SCQF Level 10 in relevant fields e.g. financial analysis, economics, business management, research methods, information analysis, and statistics. Experience of Microsoft Excel, data dashboards, and a working knowledge of statistics is essential.
