Full Job Description
The post holder will work with other Consultant Psychiatrist and integrated multidisciplinary teams to meet the specialist healthcare needs of the population of approximately 1.1 million. As a service, our community focus coupled with expansion of established community forensic and intensive support teams leave us well placed to meet the challenges arising from the Transforming Care agenda. The Trust has recently launched Leadership programmes to support employees to realise their potential. Main duties of the job o Senior Psychiatric input and clinical leadership for the locality Multidisciplinary Team. This includes a key role in ensuring that the service as a whole delivers safe and effective care that is acceptable to patients and carers. o Supervision of psychiatric medical staff working within the Learning Disability Service and specifically the Specialist Doctor working in the West Locality. o Undertake teaching and educational initiatives to develop skills of the Local Multidisciplinary team and the wider Learning Disability Service. o Interface with neurology and other health services where needed to facilitate access of service users into services that provide the most appropriate care for people with intellectual disabilities., Senior Psychiatric input and clinical leadership for the locality Multidisciplinary Team. - Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
- Recognised basic medical degree
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT in appropriate specialty (or within 3 months at time of interview) or equivalent
- Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
Experience in UK of working at consultant level in specialist services - Training in Health Services Management
- Skills and sensitivity in being able to negotiate with patients,
- Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement and experience
- Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act guidance Essential
- Experience in UK of working at consultant level in specialist services for people with intellectual disability.
- Additional experience e.g. neurodevelopmental disorders, psychological therapies, liaison.
