Prostate Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term 12 month contract for 30 hours per week to support the Prostate Pathway. The role of the Prostate Support worker is to work closely with clinicians and Service Managers to ensure that the suspected cancer pathway patients are effectively managed. The post holder will be required to act as a flexible clinical resource actively supporting the suspected cancer pathway. The post holder will have direct patient contact working with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that patient care is coordinated and delivered with minimum level of difficulty to our patients, in the service delivery of cancer waiting time pathways and targets., Ensure that Tracking of patients is efficient and responsive, dealing with queries and day to day issues. Including the tracking of Appointments, MRI dating and reporting and monitoring of histology.

Support in data collection and audits

Alert the clinical team on MRI reports and biopsies results so they can be actioned by the clinical team in a timely manner.

Deal with queries from patients, their carers, general practitioners and members of the admin & clerical team with support from the clinical team.

Safety supporting biopsy equipment set up whilst in clinic (Training will be provided)

Maintain stock control where applicable with support of Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Prostate(ANP)

Proactively support and coordinate for the overall needs of patients on the pathway, using own judgement and escalating to the relevant practitioner as necessary. Contact patients offering them a choice of appointment dates and agree with them the date of admission for their biopsies
