Introduction

You will develop skills and knowledge within property maintenance while completing various domestic trades at a basic level, which include bricklaying, carpentry, electrics, plumbing.

What You'll Do

Assist in delivering efficient, professional repairs, servicing and installation work, providing high-quality service and improving resident satisfaction.

  • Provide a professional domestic trade services to residents ensuring internal and external work sites are adequately protected, respecting customer privacy and property and safety whilst ensuring a high level of customer service is delivered
  • If responsible for a Hyde van, perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles, reporting defects, accidental damage, or loss of property in accordance with standard procedures
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring the supply, stock, and use of gas engineering and plumbing trade materials, ensuring only quality materials are utilised for any repair work undertaken enhancing the standard level of properties and service the Hyde Group offers customers
  • Exercise and promote the highest levels of duty, care, and safety within all working environments to minimise any exposure to risk for all Hyde Group employees, properties, and customers
  • Communicate effectively to our residents in their homes and demonstrate excellent customer care skills
  • Assist and learn, training alongside qualified gas engineers in the delivery of works such as boilers, pipework, radiators and heating systems and day to day responsive repairs maintenance
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to all safe systems of work Health and Safety requirements, policies, risk management guidelines to always ensure safe working procedures
  • Always wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensure any tools or machinery are operated following approved safety instructions/regulations. Report any accidents occurring or dangerous incidents and near misses promptly to both Health & Safety and other relevant Managers.

Training Outcome

Apprentices who successfully complete their apprenticeship, if the performance meets Hydes expectations, could move into a Gas Improver position. This means in their next position they will do a Level 3 Gas Operative apprenticeship.

Working Week: Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5pm and Friday is a 4pm finish. Includes one day per week allocated to day-release training at North Harbour Campus.
