Full Job Description
The role will provide dedicated support to ensure the effective delivery of Durham County Council's emerging digital programme of work. You will contribute to ensuring projects are well-governed, well-documented and aligned with organisational priorities. You will support the development, coordination, monitoring and reporting of initiatives, ensuring high standards of project support. The role will also support the design and maintenance of systems, documentation and processes required to underpin the developing work programme. The post will provide dedicated support to the Digital Programme Management Office, and digital projects evolving as a result of service developments and the Council's Transformation programme. This is a great opportunity to support the governance processes that underpin this work programme, providing project co-ordination, and helping maintain clear reporting, engagement and communication across a range of stakeholders. This post is fixed-term for 18 months. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will support a wide range of activities that help ensure successful delivery of the Council's digital programme of work. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery and tracking of projects under the work programme.
- Assisting with pilots, proofs-of-concept and discovery work.
- Preparing and coordinating documentation, governance materials and project reporting.
- Collating performance metrics, user feedback and evaluation data.
- Producing structured reporting, dashboards and transparent audit trails for projects.
- Monitoring progress and contributing to reports for relevant governance groups and stakeholders.
- Researching best practice in areas such as governance, ethics, risk management and emerging technologies. We encourage you to contact Ross McMonigle, Strategy and Service Engagement Officer via email at Ross.McMonigle@durham.gov.uk to arrange an informal discussion about the role.
- You will be educated to level 4 or equivalent and experience supporting complex projects, using a range of IT systems, and managing administrative and financial processes.
- You will have strong communication, organisational and research skills, along with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and perform well under pressure.
- You must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
We offer a competitive rewards package that includes attractive salaries, a generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days (rising to 32 after five years' continuous local government service), membership of the excellent contributory career average Local Government Pension Scheme, and a range of flexible working arrangements including hybrid working (home and office) where applicable.
