Full Job Description
The Project Officer - Beaver Reintroduction will support the delivery of landscape and catchment-scale nature recovery through beaver reintroduction across Yorkshire. You will work closely with landowners, farmers, local communities, partner organisations and volunteers to support beaver reintroduction through ecological monitoring, beaver management approaches and community engagement. Working closely with the Beaver Project Manager you will help to help build understanding and support for beaver reintroduction while ensuring effective project delivery, stakeholder collaboration and practical conservation outcomes.
You will be responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of beaver reintroduction projects, including stakeholder engagement, site assessments, surveys, monitoring and practical management activities. This includes providing advice, support and mitigation where beaver impacts create conflict, organising and supporting volunteers and community groups, delivering public engagement events, collecting and managing ecological data, undertaking technical fieldwork, and assisting with project reporting, evaluation and funding requirements. You'll also promote the benefits of nature recovery and beaver reintroduction through consultation, training and awareness-raising activities.
The ideal candidate will need experience delivering practical conservation, environmental or nature recovery projects and have a good understanding of wetland habitat restoration, nature recovery and catchment management. You will be able to build effective relationships with landowners, farmers, communities and partner organisations and bring strong stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills. You will demonstrate experience in undertaking public engagement events and awareness raising activities as well as experience in ecological surveys, monitoring and field-based conservation work. You will need to take an adaptable approach to problem-solving and have a strong commitment to conservation, collaborative working and safe working practices.
