Project Officer

Pride in Place is a new government funding programme aimed at putting power into the hands of local people in some of the most in-need neighbourhoods across the UK, so that they can decide how to regenerate their local area. In Peterborough, Pride in Place Neighbourhood Boards will cover Paston, Gunthorpe and Welland, and Orton Malborne and Orton Goldhay, with up to £20 million of funding for each neighbourhood. Each neighbourhood has an independent Board and Chair, supported by the Council as accountable body. The programme focuses on strengthening local pride, opportunity and resilience through community-defined priorities. This is a fixed term contract until September 2027 Interviews will be held on 29th September here at Sand Martin House All about the Role We are looking for passionate, community-focused individuals to join our Pride in Place team and help deliver long-term, community-led change. The roles are designed around working where change happens, in the community, alongside residents, partners and Neighbourhood Boards. They offer a unique opportunity to help shape the future of local neighbourhoods through genuine co-production and community leadership. The role will work directly alongside the Neighbourhood Boards, supporting residents, community organisations, partners and local leaders to turn community aspirations into action. The successful candidates will spend significant time working within neighbourhoods, building relationships, facilitating engagement and helping deliver projects that matter to local people. The Project Officer will provide essential operational and administrative support to the Pride in Place programme, helping coordinate Neighbourhood Board meetings, community engagement activities, grants processes, programme documentation and communications. You will be a key point of contact for residents, community groups and stakeholders. All about You We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have

• Experience of working directly with communities, residents and community groups.
• A commitment to community engagement, co-production and resident-led decision-making.
• Strong relationship-building and partnership-working skills.
• Experience of supporting or delivering projects, programmes or community initiatives.
• The ability to work independently within neighbourhoods whilst maintaining strong links with council services and partners.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A passion for improving local places and empowering communities to create lasting change.
  
  Both posts are offered on a full-time annualised hours basis to reflect the nature of community-based working.
This means flexibility is essential. The successful candidates will regularly attend community meetings, listening events, workshops and engagement activities outside normal office hours. There will be a requirement for evening working and occasional weekend working to ensure local people have opportunities to participate and influence decisions.
