Full Job Description

This is a part-time, remote role, working 22.5 hours which can be split flexibly over 3 or 4 days. Gloucestershire is a county rich in assets with six unique districts all working towards the same mission: making a fairer and healthier society for all., We are a small and growing charity, and an exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside Feeding Gloucestershire's Programme Director to support our charity develop and implement a new food resilience model for Gloucestershire. The role will involve close working with a range of partners, including district and borough councils, Gloucestershire County Council, NHS organisations, and importantly, the voluntary and community sector. We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Officer who has experience of working in the field of food security/ public health/ health promotion. The candidate will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to build and maintain strong relationships/ partnerships, enhanced organisational and time management skills, and demonstratable experience of project coordination/support and conducting stakeholder and public engagement.,

  • Supporting development of Feeding Gloucestershire's food resilience project
  • Working with Programme Director on research and development of food resilience model for Gloucestershire learning from affordable food approaches in other regions
  • Serve as the primary contact and coordinating internal and external meetings and events for Feeding Gloucestershire's food resilience project, including stakeholder and public events (both in person and online), sharing and collating information from partners, as well as evaluating and sharing feedback
  • Assisting with external communications (updating of website, newsletters) in relation to the food resilience project
  • Working effectively independently, but also as part of a team, and with a range of partners from within and outside of public health, NHS organisations and community partners.

    Have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a project support or coordination role
  • Some experience and knowledge around food security, nutrition and/or public health
  • A people's person; able to develop and sustain meaningful relationships with people from "all walk's of life", from community organisations to statutory sector
  • Have excellent organisational skills, and be able to manage time and workload effectively
  • A fast learner, able to quickly understand the role and hit the ground running
  • Very confident with IT including Office 365, in particular the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong at developing and delivering engagement plans, with skills in stakeholder engagement, event co-ordination and administration
  • Ability to act on own initiative when required and take a methodical, analytical approach to work
  • Ability to analyse issues and problems, and work with others to design and implement effective solutions
  • Have a driving licence and access to private transport
  • Be able to carry out travel within Gloucestershire (but potentially further afield in the UK), as required.
  • Desirable The successful candidate may:
  • Be educated to undergraduate degree level
  • Have some experience of managing a small budget
  • Understand academic research literature, evaluation techniques and evidence-based approaches to food security and public health
  • Some experience in data analysis
  • Experience of supporting the formulation of grant proposals
  • Experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience in using graphic design tools

    Feeding Gloucestershire is the county's food infrastructure and multi-agency organisation launched in September 2022 and becoming an established charity in February 2024. We are the countywide food resilience partner of Gloucestershire VCSE Alliance and regional partner of Feeding Britain.
