Project Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and delivery-focused Project Manager to join our Infrastructure and Capital Schemes team and help deliver a diverse range of highways and transport infrastructure projects across Buckinghamshire., Our ambition is to provide a safe, reliable and sustainable transport network that supports economic growth, environmental responsibility and thriving communities. The Infrastructure and Capital Schemes service is responsible for developing and delivering the Council's highways and transport capital programme, supporting investment in transport infrastructure, road safety and wider place-based improvements. We work closely with residents, businesses, elected Members, delivery partners, statutory bodies and government agencies to deliver infrastructure projects that make a real difference to Buckinghamshire's communities., As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing highways and transport infrastructure projects from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with agreed objectives.,

• Managing or supporting the delivery of highways and transport infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
• Developing detailed project plans, programmes, budgets and resource requirements.
• Supporting project feasibility studies, design development and implementation activities.
• Preparing project reports, updates and briefings for senior officers, elected Members and stakeholders.
• Monitoring project progress and ensuring effective governance, risk management and reporting arrangements are maintained.
• Engaging proactively with local communities, residents, businesses and stakeholders throughout project development and delivery.
• Identifying and managing project risks, issues and dependencies to help ensure successful delivery.
• Supporting procurement activities including preparation of scopes, invitations to tender and evaluation of submissions.
• Assisting with contract administration and maintaining strong working relationships with consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Conducting research and analysis to support project development and informed decision-making.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Council policies, quality standards and health and safety requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement in project management practices across the service.
This role offers excellent exposure to a broad range of infrastructure projects and provides opportunities to develop project management expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment. Any-Desk: As an 'any-desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements., Our Communities directorate works across the county to deliver a number of the key customer-facing services that our residents, businesses and visitors rely on every day. This directorate includes a wide range of services, including:
• collecting and disposing of waste and recycling
• maintaining our roads and Rights of Way network and parking
• ensuring the delivery of school transport, and supporting sustainable travel including public bus services and School Crossing Patrollers
• managing Country Parks
• leisure facilities, museums, theatres and libraries, as well as developing our Cultural Strategy
• Licensing, Environmental Health and Trading Standards
• Cemeteries and Crematoria

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
• Experience of working on highways, transport or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
• Understanding of highways and transport infrastructure development processes.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants and external partners.
• The ability to analyse information, identify solutions and support informed decision-making.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience of contract, budget or procurement activities would be advantageous.
• A positive, customer-focused and solutions-oriented approach.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and hold a project management qualification or equivalent practical experience. Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIHT, IHE, ICE or similar would be advantageous.
