Role OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Business Management Consultant (BA/PMO) to join a newly established Strategic Cost Management function supporting a major UK banking client.
This role sits within the UK Bank COO organisation and plays a key part in helping to stabilise and shape a newly formed Business Management team responsible for a cost base of approximately £300m and a workforce of around 5,000 employees. The team has been created following a major organisational restructuring and is evolving into a structured cost and performance management function with increasing offshore integration.
The successful candidate will support both BAU delivery (monthly reporting, financial MI, governance and performance tracking) and strategic improvement initiatives focused on enhancing operating models, reporting quality and decision-making effectivenessYou will work closely with senior stakeholders, including the UK Bank COO organisation, as well as onshore and offshore teams, helping to translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights that support business decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport a Strategic Cost Management function within a COO-aligned organisationProduce and maintain monthly financial reporting, management information and performance dashboardsAnalyse cost, budget, headcount and resource data to identify trends, risks and opportunitiesSupport forecasting, variance analysis and financial performance tracking activitiesAssist in the development and enhancement of governance frameworks, reporting processes and controlsContribute to the design and implementation of operating model and process improvementsWork with offshore and onshore teams to ensure consistent delivery of MI and reporting outputsSupport stakeholder engagement across finance, operations and business management teamsPrepare materials for senior governance forums, steering committees and executive updatesHelp identify and resolve data quality issues across financial and operational reportingContribute to the stabilisation and build-out of a newly formed Business Management

Key Skills and AttributesStrong understanding of financial analysis, cost management and management reportingExperience in a Business Analyst, PMO, Business Management or Chief of Staff-style roleStrong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial and operational dataHigh attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and governanceComfortable working in ambiguous and evolving environments with limited structureStrong stakeholder management skills with confidence engaging senior stakeholdersAbility to prioritise effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced environmentProactive, resilient and solution-oriented mindsetStrong communication skills with ability to simplify complex information for different audiencesAbility to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams and locations
Preferred Experience and KnowledgeExperience within Financial Services or other regulated environmentsExposure to cost management, budgeting, forecasting or headcount/resource planningExperience supporting COO, Finance or Business Management functionsFamiliarity with governance frameworks, reporting cycles and executive MI productionExperience working in transformation, restructuring or operating model change environmentsStrong Excel and PowerPoint skills for financial analysis and senior reporting packsExposure to offshore delivery models (advantageous)
