Full Job Description
Project Leaders support the development of new vehicle projects from concept through to launch, ensuring that quality deliverables are successfully completed. They must also champion quality during cross-functional reviews to ensure that decisions are always made with the best interest of the customer in mind. Project Leaders are the link between the Quality department and Product creation functions and as such are responsible for the creation, monitoring and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Key duties and responsibilities
- Interpret high-level programme objectives to identify the tasks to be undertaken by the Quality teams, and plan their completion in line with Programme timing.
- Work closely with the Quality Engineering teams to cascade programme requirements and drive actions to ensure these are achieved prior to launch
- Create and monitor departmental KPIs
- Present regular status updates to senior stakeholders within the organisation, up to and including the CEO
- Drive the capture and implementation of lessons learned to ensure robustness of new designs
- Design and source master fixtures required including control of budgets, liaising with other departments to identify and align requirements, and leading fixture build activities including reporting out results
Experienced in managing complex cross-functional projects from concept/scoping through to delivery - Application of Quality tools and techniques to drive product improvements or ensure delivery of projects to target (including 8D / PPS, FMEA, design reviews)
- Good working knowledge of APQP / parts approval process (AMPAP, PPAP etc)
- Experienced problem solver with a proven track record of resolving issues during development and/or driving improvement in products or processes
- The ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver and thrive in an ever-changing and dynamic environment
- Ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organisation Preferred experience
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional team meetings to define clear improvement action plans and close-out in a timely manner
- Experience in bringing new automotive products to market
- High degree of numeracy and knowledge of statistical techniques
- Awareness of geometric dimensional and tolerancing, part measurement/gauging including interpretation of results Essential education/ qualifications Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, related degree or equivalent relevant experience Preferred education/ qualifications Project management qualification (AMP, PRINCE 2 etc),
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in teams of various sizes across all areas to be able to influence the successful delivery of the requirements of those teams
- A confident communicator, able to create and deliver clear and concise presentations focused on the target audience and outcomes.
- Highly organised with effective time management skills, able to manage multiple projects and tasks in parallel
- Passion for Quality - prepared to champion customer requirements (both external and internal
- Flexibility to work incremental hours at short notice if necessary, to ensure that departmental objectives are completed Additional requirements
- Full driving UK license
