Full Job Description
Projects Director - Corporate Accounts Location: UK (London / South East focus, national remit) Division: Project Professional Services Shape strategy. Lead delivery. Drive growth. Mitie is looking for a Projects Director - Corporate Accounts to take ownership of a high-profile, demanding portfolio of blue-chip clients and help shape the future of our Projects and Professional Services offering. This is a genuinely senior role - one that combines strategic leadership, client gravitas, portfolio ownership and growth, not just project delivery. If you're comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing at Board and Executive level, and turning complex stakeholder environments into long-term partnerships, this role will give you real scope to make your mark. The Opportunity You'll be accountable for the end-to-end leadership of a major corporate accounts portfolio, delivering a wide range of capital projects - from high-volume lifecycle and asset programmes through to multi-million-pound refurbishments - across the UK, with a strong emphasis on London and the South East. Mitie typically acts as Principal Contractor, meaning you'll lead delivery through a blend of internal capability and trusted supply chain partners, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest standard. Crucially, this role goes beyond "running what's already there". A core part of your remit will be to develop future pipeline, identify growth opportunities and position Mitie as the trusted delivery partner of choice. What You'll Be Doing Lead at Portfolio & Strategic Level
- Take full ownership of a portfolio of high-value corporate clients, acting as the senior escalation point and trusted advisor
- Set direction and strategy across projects, programmes and people
- Provide clarity and leadership in a fast-moving, matrixed and sometimes ambiguous environment Build Trusted Client Relationships
- Operate confidently with Director, Exec and Board-level stakeholders
- Navigate complex, political and fragmented client organisations
- Lead calm, constructive and credible strategic challenge when required
- Protect and enhance client brand, workplace experience and end-user outcomes Drive Delivery Excellence & Governance
- Oversee governance, commercial control, risk, safety and assurance across all projects
- Ensure compliance with CDM, statutory construction requirements and contractual frameworks (JCT / NEC)
- Champion consistent quality, sustainability and best-in-class delivery Lead, Develop & Empower People
- Lead a senior team of Heads of Projects (c. 3-4 direct reports, ~20+ indirect on key accounts)
- Create the environment for high performance, accountability and development
- Empower your team rather than defaulting to micromanagement Support Growth & Pipeline
- Identify and convert opportunities for upsell and new work within existing accounts
- Provide SME input into bids, proposals and client opportunities
- Help shift the business from "doing the day job" to proactive, strategic growth What We're Looking For We're not looking for someone who just likes things neatly defined. We're looking for someone who thrives when they aren't. You'll likely bring:
- Senior leadership experience delivering capital projects (£150k-£15m) and programmes up to £100m
- Experience operating in corporate, professional services or regulated client environments
- Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to prioritise and say "no" when needed
- Proven ability to operate effectively in matrixed organisations
- Deep understanding of project governance, risk, health & safety and statutory compliance
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills
- Degree qualification (or equivalent experience); professional accreditation (APM, CIOB, RICS) advantageous
