Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional technical and construction leader to join its New Hospital Programme team. This is an exceptional opportunity to move client-side and take ownership of the technical design and construction delivery of a £1bn+ hospital development that will transform healthcare delivery for future generations.

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust provides acute, elective, specialist, and community services to a population of more than 200,000 people across Yorkshire and East Lancashire. Serving communities through Airedale General Hospital and a range of community-based services, the Trust has built a reputation for innovation, quality care, and pioneering telemedicine services. At the heart of the communities it serves, Airedale combines clinical excellence with a strong commitment to continuous improvement, partnership working, and the delivery of outstanding patient care.

The Trust is entering a defining period in its history through the delivery of its New Hospital Programme, one of the most significant healthcare infrastructure investments in the UK. As part of the national NHS New Hospital Programme, Airedale will develop a state-of-the-art replacement hospital on its Steeton site, creating modern, sustainable facilities that will transform healthcare delivery for future generations. Following the Government's confirmation of Airedale as a first-priority scheme within the New Hospital Programme, this landmark development will address the significant challenges posed by RAAC across the existing estate and secure the future of healthcare provision in the region.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Programme Director, act as the Trust's senior technical and construction lead, responsible for the development of the hospital design, site-wide masterplanning, enabling works, and construction delivery.

  • Work closely with NHS England, the New Hospital Programme, Hospital 2.0 partners, consultants, contractors, and Trust stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of a highly complex healthcare project.

  • Lead design and construction partners, ensuring effective integration of clinical, operational, and estate requirements into the future hospital.

  • Provide leadership across all aspects of design, engineering, construction, and sustainability, ensuring compliance with national standards and programme requirements.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven track record of managing major capital or estate development programmes in complex environments.

  • Experience of leading teams to balance quality, commercial acumen, and high standards of design and sustainability.

  • Aspiring to shape one of the UK's most high-profile healthcare infrastructure programmes.

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious technical and construction leader seeking to contribute to a landmark healthcare project.
