Public Health Improvement Programme The Public Health Peer Review and External Support is a major new local authority public health improvement programme led by the Local Government Association (LGA) over the next three years. Funded by the Department for Health and Social Care, the programme will see the LGA work with councils in England, starting in June 2026, to support local public health teams to deliver better health outcomes for their communities. It will include delivery of a substantial programme of public health peer reviews. About the role For posts marked

  • Programme Support Officer The Programme Support Officer role will work as part of the Programme Team (Public Health) to contribute to the delivery of the contract. To provide effective and efficient business and programme support to the Programme in accordance with policies and procedures. To support the Programme Lead (Public Health) and Advisers (Public Health) in the delivery of the Programme. To work with the Business Manager/Assistant Business Manager to fulfil and align all relevant business processes. To provide business and/or programme support to the Public Health Programme to contribute to the delivery agreed activities and outcomes in a timely and professional manner. To support operational delivery of the Programme including planning, budgeting, procurement, peer review processes and reporting ensuring processes are applied in a manner consistent with relevant policies and procedures. We are specifically assessing candidates against the following criteria: Ability to: 1. Provide project support to teams across the Programme, including developing plans, running procurements, maintaining milestone progress and reporting on deliverable. 2. Monitor allocated budgets and produce accurate outturns and projections to meet programme requirements and in accordance with relevant financial procedures. 3. Manage purchase orders, invoices, and related activities for teams in line with procedures, ensuring timely payment and resolution of any issues. 4. Organise and support meetings, events, and functions, including venue and supplier liaison, collation of speakers' information and materials. Attend events and undertake on the day logistics such as registration. Transcribe outputs from events and collate customer feedback for analysis. 5. Support organisation of public health peer reviews, including hotels, travel and expenses. 6. Support the scheduled progress reporting requirements in accordance with agreed submission deadlines and dealing with ad hoc information requests.
