Full Job Description

Programme Manager, Oxford HELIX Initiative

Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford), Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LF

University of Oxford

Programme Manager, Oxford HELIX Initiative

Grade 8: £49,119 - £58,265 per annum including Oxford Weighting Allowance

Oxford Population Health (the Nuffield Department of Population Health) provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching and for professional and support staff. We work together to answer some of the most important questions about the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.

We are seeking a Programme Manager to join Trey Ideker's multidisciplinary research team at the Big Data Institute (BDI). You will work with the Director of the Big Data Institute and senior academics across participating departments to manage the mobilisation and ongoing delivery of the HELIX programme, including its governance and advisory structures. Provide day-to-day operational management of the HELIX portfolio, including the six AI HELIX programmes, core machine-learning and operational staff, and cross-departmental collaborative projects and be responsible for monitoring delivery against programme milestones and deliverables, escalating delays or emerging risks, and updating priorities and timelines as required.

The Oxford AI HELIX will unite AI and health expertise from eight departments and the broader Oxford research and innovation community by recruiting six leading Bio x AI faculty members, supported by substantial community-building activities.

Applicants will need to be educated to degree level in a relevant subject. Have experience of managing technical or scientific research programmes, ideally spanning multiple departments or institutions, and project/programme management experience, including capturing milestones, monitoring progress, managing budgets, and outcome reporting to a broad range of multidisciplinary stakeholders (both internal and external). You will have experience of, or strong aptitude for, financial monitoring and reporting, including tracking budgets and funding transitions across multiple departments.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post (part-time considered) for 3 years.

The closing date for applications is noon on 13 November 2026.

You will be required to upload a CV and a cover letter as part of your online application. The cover letter should clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
