Full Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Senior Programme Manager to lead and deliver our AI-enabled workforce transformation agenda. This role sits at the intersection of people, technology and business strategy, leading complex programmes that redefine how work is performed, how organisations are structured, and how value is unlocked through AI, automation and emerging technologies. Working across HR, Technology, Data and Business leadership teams, you will orchestrate multiple strategic workstreams spanning AI adoption, workforce planning, work redesign, operating model transformation, digital capability development, organisational effectiveness, culture change and employee experience. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrable track record of delivering complex change initiatives within highly matrixed organisations. This individual will play a pivotal role in championing best practice from project and programme scoping through to successful implementation in an increasingly AI-enabled environment. Leveraging strong analytical skills, you will proactively identify and address process gaps, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and optimisation. Building and nurturing strong relationships across HR, Enabling Functions (IT, Risk, Procurement, Finance, etc.), and the wider organisation will be paramount. This role will partner closely with HR leadership to spearhead critical projects, ensuring seamless execution from concept to delivery. Exceptional stakeholder management skills are essential, including the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, secure strategic alignment, and drive successful outcomes.

  • Cultivate and maintain a robust cross-business network of relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, fostering effective communication and collaboration throughout the project and programme lifecycle.
  • Elicit and translate intricate business requirements into clearly defined project scope, measurable outcomes, and quantifiable benefits.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and drive impactful results.
  • Develop compelling business cases for new project initiatives, with a clear emphasis on measurable success criteria, tangible benefits, and desired outcomes.
  • Serve as a champion for HR project, programme, and change delivery best practice and governance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement across HR teams. Utilise and adapt recognised methodologies, including AI tools, to effectively deliver projects, tailoring approaches to meet the specific needs of the business.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership to optimise the day-to-day execution of projects and programmes, effectively securing buy-in and sponsorship from key stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate issues, risks, and dependencies across HR projects and programmes, ensuring successful delivery and optimal outcomes for the HR function.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between enabling area stakeholders, such as Transformation, IT, Risk, Finance, and Procurement, ensuring alignment and seamless delivery to a controlled scope throughout the project or programme lifecycle.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the HR project team, ensuring capacity and resourcing are aligned to business priorities while supporting individual development and career growth.
  • Act as People Leader for project managers, creating a high-performing and inclusive team environment through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development support.

Significant experience leading and delivering HR transformation initiatives encompassing process optimisation, technology implementation, organisational design, data management, and change management is required.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale business, workforce, operating model or digital transformation programmes with significant organisational impact.
  • Strong understanding of how AI, automation and digital technologies are reshaping work, workforce capability requirements, organisational design and employee experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic ambition into executable transformation roadmaps while driving sustainable adoption and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional programmes involving senior stakeholders across business, technology, data and people functions.
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify opportunities to create value through workforce transformation and AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Experience managing change at scale, including stakeholder engagement, communications, capability building and adoption strategies.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence senior leaders and align diverse stakeholder groups around a shared transformation vision.
  • A strong understanding of HR functions, processes, and leading technologies (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors, Avature, PeopleFluent) is essential. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, including the ability to interpret complex data sets, extract actionable insights, and drive strategic decisions.
  • The Senior Manager will be a highly effective communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills. This includes the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build consensus, and present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.
  • A passion for continuous improvement is essential. The ideal candidate will actively seek opportunities to enhance project delivery, capturing lessons learned and implementing best practices.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead high-performing teams is essential. The Senior Manager will foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment across project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to apply a range of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches, adapting their style to suit the specific needs of each project.
  • Experience operating within a leadership team and supporting colleagues to grow, perform at their best, and realise their potential while balancing development needs with delivery priorities.
  • Desirable
  • Experience working within a large, complex, global organisation is highly desirable.
  • Professional Services Background: Previous experience working within a professional services context or partnership model may be beneficial.
