Production Coating Technician

The Production Coating Technician will be responsible for programming, operating, monitoring and maintaining selective coating equipment to apply high-quality protective coatings to printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, good technical understanding, and the ability to work accurately within a controlled production environment. The ideal Production Coating Technician will have experience in some or all of the following:

• Experience operating selective coating or conformal coating equipment.
• Ability to programme, set up and run automated coating machines.
• Experience with Nordson, ASYMTEK, PVA, Delta or similar selective coating systems would be highly desirable.
• Understanding of conformal coating materials, including acrylic, silicone, polyurethane or UV-curable coatings.
• Good understanding of coating viscosity, cure times, coating thickness, application methods and process control.
• Experience operating inline ovens, conveyors or curing systems.
• Ability to carry out routine machine maintenance, cleaning and basic fault-finding.
• Experience with masking, de-masking, hand spraying, touch-up and manual coating methods.
• Ability to inspect coated assemblies under UV light or other inspection methods.
• Good understanding of quality standards within electronics manufacturing.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, technical drawings, customer specifications and process documents.
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems to update jobs, stock, production data or traceability records.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with small electronic assemblies.
• Good communication skills and confidence raising issues with management or quality teams.
• Ability to work to production targets while maintaining high quality standards.
