Full Job Description

  • Colleague Networks - internal groups where colleagues and their allies can share their own experiences, offer feedback on the way we do things at Greggs, and provide support to one another, This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Greggs House, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 8BU
  • What you'll do
  • Own end-to-end design across assigned customer and colleague-facing journeys, working independently with strategic input from the Design Manager rather than day-to-day oversight
  • Lead design for Greggs' AI-powered features, shaping how AI capabilities are introduced into customer experiences such as loyalty, personalisation and growth, and into colleague-facing operations
  • Drive adoption of AI tools across the design and research practice, identifying where they improve quality, speed or outcomes
  • Produce high-fidelity designs and concepts using the Digital Design System for mobile and web, with consideration for responsive design and native OS capabilities across iOS and Android
  • Create UX flows, wireframes and prototypes to explore and communicate design ideas
  • Contribute to and evolve our design systems, patterns and accessibility standards
  • Conduct user research to inform and validate design decisions, including usability testing, interviews, surveys and observational studies, and synthesise findings into actionable design direction
  • Work closely with Product Owners to frame problems, test hypotheses and prioritise during discovery and delivery
  • Collaborate day-to-day with Engineering to ensure designs are practical, scalable and delivered to a high standard
  • Partner with business subject matter experts to ground design in operational reality, particularly when designing for shop colleagues
  • Clearly communicate and defend design decisions with evidence and product thinking
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and accessible way

You will fit right into this role if you:
  • Bring solid hands-on experience as a Product Designer (or similar end-to-end design role) working on customer or colleague-facing digital products
  • Are comfortable owning design from problem framing through to delivery, working autonomously without needing day-to-day oversight
  • Have a strong grounding in UX research and integrate research practice into your design work, conducting research yourself rather than relying on a separate workstream
  • Have hands-on experience with AI in your design or research work, even if you are still building your craft in this space
  • Are curious about how AI is changing design and instinctively experiment with new tools as they emerge
  • Are confident using Figma to a high standard, including Auto Layout, Components and Design Systems
  • Communicate and defend design decisions clearly, with evidence and product thinking, to a range of different audiences
  • Have a strong understanding of accessibility standards and apply them as a default
  • Are familiar with working in an Agile product environment, embedded within a squad
  • Care about the craft of design while staying grounded in product outcomes
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where customer experience and operational realities both matter
  • Enjoy being part of a collaborative, supportive squad, celebrating wins and sharing responsibility for outcomes
  • Value and contribute to an inclusive culture, where different perspectives are welcomed and help everyone do better work

If you're passionate about owning design end-to-end, using research to inform your decisions, and exploring how AI can elevate the products you build, this is a brilliant opportunity to have a real impact.
  • We can offer you:

  • Share save schemes that let you buy discounted Greggs shares, by saving a set amount of money over a fixed time, to have an even bigger share of our profits
  • Career progression and learning and development
  • Employee Assistance Programme; A free, confidential helpline, offering advice and support with financial, relationship, work-related and wellbeing issues, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Including a mobile app providing a range of wellness content on physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing
