Private Sector Housing Officers (2 Posts)


£40777 - £42839


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the council's Private Sector Housing Team based in Bridlington and Goole with blended working opportunities. We seek two experienced individuals qualified to relevant equivalent degree level who have drive, enthusiasm and transferable regulatory enforcement skills.


Due to the specialist nature of the roles, it is essential that you are already trained, competent and have direct experience of using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify property conditions and risks and have working knowledge of relevant legislation covering private sector tenancies, including the Renters Rights Act. Where improvements are required, you will ensure that works are carried out to the required standards within agreed timescales.


A flexible approach together with professionalism, excellent communication skills and a positive 'can do' attitude are essential as is the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team towards shared goals. You will also use the full range of enforcement powers and tools and provide regulatory advice and guidance to local businesses.


You must have experience in regulatory enforcement activity, particularly in the service of relevant notices and taking enforcement action including emergency remedial action and taking of legal action including penalty charge notices and prosecutions.

  • Hours: 37 each per week as part of full-time, fixed term contracts until end of March 2027.
