The focus of this role is to assist residents to obtain funding to improve their housing conditions, disseminate information and important policy updates to Private Rented Sector stakeholders to raise awareness of rights, responsibilities, best practice and to encourage professional delivery across the sector.

About the team:

The Private Sector Housing Team consists of a Principal Environmental Health Officer, Environmental Health Officer, 3 Environmental Health Technicians, an Grants/Adaptations Admin officer, and this role, Private Sector Housing Officer. At present recruitment is under way for an additional EHO and EHT. We deal with the approximately 14,000 private rented properties in Exeter, which includes 1540 licensed Houses in Multiple Occupation. We are an enforcing authority, and at the same time have positive engagement with landlords associations. The team forms part of the Early Intervention and Prevention Unit.

You will be a person with experience in managing projects to completion, working with a diverse group of stakeholders, while at the same time being able to effectively communicate at multiple levels in diverse forms of media. You will have an eye for detail in the formulation of policy, training and the processing of grants, as well as being comfortable in financial and outcomes reporting to central government. You will have knowledge of the regulatory regime as it applies to the Private Rented Sector. You will likely be very motivated, organised, and curious as to the service can be improved.
