Are you a Transport Planner looking for your next challenge? We are seeking an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join our established and growing Transport Planning team in Reading . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative transport solutions across the Thames Valley and wider South of England, supporting a diverse portfolio of development planning and public sector projects. Our Reading office is ideally located just minutes from the train station, with excellent links to London and Oxford. Situated close to the River Thames, the office provides a fantastic environment to collaborate with colleagues across our multidisciplinary business, including civil engineering, environmental planning, flood risk, utilities and masterplanning teams. About The Role: As a Principal Transport Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a varied portfolio of transport planning projects across the public and private sectors. You will work with a range of clients including national housebuilders, land promoters, local authorities and public sector organisations, helping to unlock complex development sites and deliver sustainable transport solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting transport planning projects from early-stage land promotion through to planning consent and delivery.
  • Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, transport studies and associated technical reports.
  • Undertaking transport analysis, including junction modelling and assessment work.
  • Providing technical input across a range of strategic development proposals, residential schemes, masterplans and infrastructure projects.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, design teams, local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development of junior team members through mentoring, guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Contributing to project delivery through effective management of quality, budgets and deadlines.

    We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is passionate about delivering high-quality transport solutions and keen to take the next step in their career., A degree qualification in transportation, geography, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within transport planning, ideally across development planning and/or public sector projects.
  • A strong understanding of the planning system and experience preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and transport studies.
  • Experience undertaking junction modelling, transport analysis and using relevant industry software.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing project budgets, quality and technical delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • A commitment to professional development, ideally working towards chartership such as Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP).
