Principal Transport Planner

We are on the hunt for someone to join our busy Transport Planning team in Reading!, We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to join our busy Transport Planning team, based in Reading, on a permanent basis. The role would suit a transport planner with a broad understanding of all elements of the profession, ideally with a focus on transport planning for development planning projects as well as the ability to work on public sector schemes., This is an exciting opportunity to help grow an established and reputable business, leading a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects across the region and nationwide primarily in the public sector. Our transport planners work closely with Stantec's multidisciplinary teams in civil engineering, flood risk, utilities, environmental planning and masterplanning to deliver integrated development strategies for sites ranging from early-stage land promotion through to planning consent and delivery. Our team has a strong track record in supporting strategic land promotion, outline planning applications and large-scale residential masterplans, working with national housebuilders, land promoters and public sector clients to unlock complex development sites . You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects from larger and more complex strategic land development proposals through to smaller sites, in addition to strategic infrastructure delivery and public sector commissions. This role will enable you to develop your transport planning skills and abilities alongside our broader multi-disciplinary offering. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for supporting technical output of transportation projects . You will be involved in the production of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, a variety of transport studies and associated technical analysis work, plus supporting the wider regional team on our range of projects. You will liaise with clients, design teams, l ocal authorities and the general public and will play an important role in the mentoring and development of junior members of the team. • Support the delivery of high-quality transport planning projects across both public and private sector schemes

  You will be degree qualified ideally in transportation, geography, engineering or a related field.
You will have experience and understanding of the planning system and experience with Transport Assessments, Travel Planning, J unction modelling / analysis and experience of relevant software packages. Strong numerical skills are important, and you will have experience with budget and q uality management at project level. You should ideally be working towards professional qualification, for example Chartered Transport Planning Professional .
