Principal Programme Manager

We're looking for an experienced Principal Programme Manager to drive high-quality performance and best practice across the diverse Business Solutions portfolio. You will support the development of robust business cases and lead on putting strong governance, performance, assurance and contract management in place across a varied programme portfolio. Working with senior leaders, government, delivery partners and stakeholders, you'll help programmes start well, stay on track and achieve agreed outcomes. You'll turn strategy into practical delivery, manage risks, improve how programmes are run and give clear advice to senior leaders. You'll also lead Programme Managers and Programme Officers, building a team focused on delivery, accountability and impact. This is a senior role with real influence. You'll also be part of a new leadership team working together to shape the Tees Valley's future growth. • Strong experience managing programmes, portfolios or projects in a complex environment.
• A track record of setting up and managing governance, assurance, performance reporting and programme controls.
• Experience managing risks, tracking benefits and keeping complex programmes on course.
• Experience managing contracts, grants and delivery partners, with a focus on performance, compliance and value for money.
• Good knowledge of government funding, assurance, procurement and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting business cases, programme start-up and delivery of complex investment programmes.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand performance data, spot risks and support good decisions.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong relationship-building skills across senior leaders, delivery partners, funders and governance groups.
• Strong communication skills, with experience preparing reports, dashboards, board papers and senior briefings.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities and improve delivery.
