We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Charnwood to assist with the appointment of a Principal Officer - Repairs, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., Charnwood Borough Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Officer - Repairs to lead the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused repairs service. The role is responsible for managing responsive repairs operations, leading repairs and business support teams, overseeing contractors, managing budgets, and driving continuous service improvement to ensure excellent outcomes for residents. Responsibilities:
- Lead the responsive repairs team, maximising the productivity of in-house labour and managing external contractors.
- Manage the Business Support Team to support the effective delivery of repairs and voids services.
- Work closely with colleagues across housing services, including voids, tenancy management, and investment teams, to ensure repairs are progressed efficiently from identification through to completion.
- Manage customer complaints and disrepair claims.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and implement service improvements.
Relevant construction-related qualification, such as a degree, membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent experience. Essentials: - Experience managing high-quality property repairs services.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of property repairs programmes and service delivery.
- Proven experience leading, managing, motivating, and developing teams.
- Ability to manage resources, including in-house operatives, contractors, and associated budgets.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement service improvements.
