Full Job Description
To actively and effectively promote the Council's vision, values, aims, objectives and priorities, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services. The Principal Planning Officer will be responsible for managing a varied and complex caseload of planning applications, contributing to the delivery of Nottingham's strategic planning objectives. This position involves managing complex planning applications, overseeing large-scale development projects and shaping strategic policies that align with Nottingham's growth ambitions, sustainability goals, and local community needs. The role demands a high level of expertise in urban planning, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Have a degree in Town Planning or a related field, accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and a postgraduate qualification in urban planning, environmental planning, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in Planning, leading on a range of major applications.
- Thorough knowledge of current development management practice, its legislative background, policy and procedural context, as well as the ability to accurately apply this knowledge in a real-world situation.
- Knowledge of the principles and best practices of Urban Design and sustainability.
