Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Line Manager: Head of Project Development, IE-DRIVE About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to apply your passion for Mechanical Design to the design and development of our stationary power fuel cell products. Working as part of a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for the on-time development and delivery of designs and documentation detailing parts and assemblies of appropriate manufacturability against a set of customer requirements. You will ensure that engineering best practice, including DfX principles are incorporated into the product development lifecycle. You will contribute towards the long-term mechanical design strategy to standardise, simplify and modularise our products. About You You will have proven product development experience. It is key that you have a commercial mindset and the ability to work with a flexible and solutions focused approach, in an agile and fast paced environment. You must also be, able to work collaboratively with a

cross-functional team alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues, As such, excellent communication skills are vital. You will hold a BEng, BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or possess an appropriate non-degree level qualification alongside suitable industrial experience. You will have experience of structured design process methodologies and able to demonstrate technical design capability including application of DfX principles. You will have used a 3D parametric CAD package, SolidWorks preferred, covering modelling parts, assemblies and drafting engineering drawings. You will have knowledge of the application of FMEAs. Experience of defining and delivering sub-systems and/or full products and of technical leadership of a team are desirable. What We Offer This role is based on site at our Loughborough Facility.
