Are you a calm, organised and caring person who enjoys working with children? Do you have the confidence to lead others, manage a busy lunchtime environment and help ensure that pupils are safe, happy and well supported? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Principal Lunchtime Supervisor to join our dedicated team at The Priory Primary School. This is an important role within our school, supporting the smooth running of lunchtime arrangements and helping to create a positive, safe and enjoyable lunchtime experience for all pupils. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, support and organise lunchtime staff, respond calmly to incidents and help pupils make positive choices. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting high standards of behaviour, care and supervision during the lunch period, both in the dining hall and on the playground. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is nurturing, reliable and proactive, and who is ready to take on additional responsibility within a supportive school team. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:

  • Take a lead role in the organisation and smooth running of lunchtime supervision across the school.
  • Support, guide and coordinate the work of staff to ensure pupils are well supervised and routines are followed.
  • Promote a safe, calm and positive lunchtime environment in the dining hall, playground and other areas of the school.
  • Support pupils with lunchtime routines, including lining up, eating lunch, playing safely and returning to class ready to learn.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, good manners, independence and respectful relationships between pupils.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, accidents, behaviour concerns or pupil needs during lunchtime.
  • Record and report incidents, accidents or concerns in line with school procedures.
  • Liaise with class teachers, senior leaders, pastoral staff and the school office where appropriate.
  • Help organise playground activities and encourage pupils to take part in positive, inclusive play.
  • Support pupils who may find lunchtime challenging, helping them to feel safe, included and settled.
  • Ensure lunchtime staff are deployed effectively and that key areas of the school are supervised appropriately.
  • Contribute to the development of effective lunchtime routines, expectations and systems.

  • Experience of working with children in a school, childcare, play, community or similar setting.
  • The confidence to lead, support and organise a team of lunchtime staff.
  • A calm, caring and positive approach to working with pupils.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy lunchtime period.
  • The ability to respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, accidents or behaviour concerns.
  • A fair, consistent and nurturing approach to behaviour management.
  • Flexibility, reliability and the ability to use initiative.

    Grade D, SCP 9-17, £27,254 - £31,022 (Actual Salary £6,745 - £7,827)
