Full Job Description
The Highways and Transport Team delivers vital services that support the daily lives of residents across West Northamptonshire. We are committed to maintaining a road network that is safe, efficient, and accessible, while also helping to shape a sustainable and connected future through the management of highway assets, public transport, and active travel initiatives.
This is an especially exciting time to join Northamptonshire Highways. With both funding and a strong policy framework in place, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver wide ranging improvements set out within the Local Transport Plan, and other Council policies making a lasting difference for communities across West Northamptonshire.
This is a 2 year fixed term position.
What will you be doing?
As the Council's principal lead for transport strategy and policy, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of transport across the area.
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Council's adopted Local Transport Plan (LTP), overseeing the monitoring and implementation of interventions that help achieve its objectives. Alongside this, you will develop strategies, manage transport studies, provide internal guidance, and build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will have a strong and up to date understanding of transport policy within a Local Authority setting, experience of strategy writing and be aware of the democratic process for adoption of Council policy. Have had experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and be comfortable with communicating with a wide range of stakeholders..
Your expertise and leadership will contribute to creating transport solutions that meet the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors both now and in the future.
