We are expanding our Transport Infrastructure team and are looking to hire a Principal Engineer. Exciting Projects Midland Metro Alliance - Circa. £1bn programme of works designing and supporting construction for West Midlands Combined Authority National Highways Technical Assurance Framework - Assessment of early-stage feasibility for schemes up to £100m Ashfield District Council Walking & Cycling - Design partner for walking and cycling network enhancements Eastern Green Interchange - Construction support for a Home's England scheme for 2,500 homes. Sheffield Transforming Cities Fund - Urban regeneration scheme with outlook to improve cycling and walking infrastructure in the heart of the city centre.

About the role

You will be joining a hardworking and successful team specialising in the delivery of a wide range of multi-disciplinary highway infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across the UK. The work covers all aspects of design and management from inception through to detailed design and construction support. This senior role will play a key part in shaping and delivering innovative, sustainable, and future-ready transport solutions across the region and beyond, contributing to all types of highways schemes from feasibility through to implementation.

You will be required to aid in the successful delivery of a wide range of projects both within the Midlands and Nationally and aid in shaping the team development to deliver the key strategic goals of the Transport Infrastructure capability and wider Pell Frischmann business. The team work collaboratively across the UK and as a result we would be flexible with your office location. You will have the opportunity to be working on many key projects in the Transport Infrastructure sector. These include projects such as Sheffield City Centre improvements, the Midlands Metro or as part of several major frameworks including Birmingham City Council, Thurrock, Ealing & Hampshire.

We are frequently involved in projects that improve transport links and regenerate regions thereby providing new opportunities for residents and businesses. Joining Pell Frischmann will also see you be part of an expert, multidisciplinary team where you will be supported in your development and you will support the development of others in your set discipline to enhance your future progression aligning to your individual skills and personal aspirations. This could include professional qualifications, technical excellence or management and leadership.

Main duties

• Lead the technical contribution to projects, whilst contributing to business development.


• Perform a variety of complex technical, professional and financial activities.


• Liaise with others advising on professional matters in connection with individual projects or project portfolios.


• Develop long-term client relationships and secures new and repeat work.


• Manage medium projects or several small projects with complex features.


• Fully understand the scope of projects and ensure all additional works above and beyond the contracted scope are documented as appropriate with the Client (for sign off and approval).


• Act as technical lead for your area of expertise while supporting the development of the team.

Key Requirements

Essential

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent Qualifications


• Further degree (MSc/MEng)


• Appropriate professional qualification (IEng, CEng or equivalent)

Preferred Experience

• Leading Civil Engineering design for projects


• Detailed design knowledge of technical highways design and processes


• Commercial management


• Team or staff leadership role


• Client interface


• Business Development Skills

• Good written English for reports.


• Strong numeracy, analytical and report writing skills with attention to detail.
