Principal Engineer - Civil / Structural Remote with occassional office visits 35 Hours Per Week | SC Clearance £60-61/hour Inside IR35. Help shape the infrastructure behind a safe and secure future. We're working to create a safe and secure world, together - and we're looking for an experienced Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of complex infrastructure at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior engineer to take technical ownership of significant civil and structural design packages, supporting the refurbishment and development of subway systems within the 10 Dockyard site. The role is full time, 35 hours per week, remote with occassional office visits.The OpportunityAs Principal Civil / Structural Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across the design lifecycle, with a particular focus on complex services subways and routes.You'll lead the structural and civil engineering work associated with:
Refurbishment design proposals for existing subways within the 10D siteDevelopment of new and alternative design solutionsAssessment of condition survey findings and development of remediation strategiesIntegration of existing utilities with proposed worksEnsuring civil and structural design requirements are fully coordinated and satisfiedSupporting the engineering capability of new systems throughout the complete design lifecycleYou'll act as a technical authority within the project, providing leadership to design teams and specialist subcontractors while ensuring solutions meet the required engineering, safety, quality and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading and managing one or more technical design packages, ensuring requirements are met throughout the design processProviding technical guidance, design assurance and review of subcontracted design workEnsuring designs comply with specifications, technical regulations, legislation and applicable standardsCollaborating across
engineering disciplines and with key stakeholders to integrate designs within the overall facility layoutManaging complex technical interfaces between existing and proposed infrastructureMaintaining engineering configuration and design intent through effective change controlProviding expert advice to subcontracted design houses to support successful design developmentSupporting the development and implementation of assurance and governance arrangements for subway remedial works and new designsCollaborating with other design houses to coordinate proposed works and facilitate wider project requirementsSupporting project planning, project management and budgetary considerationsEnsuring design activities are delivered in accordance with company procedures covering engineering, health & safety and qualityWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer who can demonstrate strong technical leadership within complex engineering environments.Essential Experience

Experience in the design of highly complex services subways, routes or similar infrastructureIdeally, experience within a nuclear, defence or other highly regulated environmentStrong knowledge of civil / structural design and construction regulations, legislation and standardsUnderstanding of Principal Designer responsibilities under CDMExperience substantiating Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs) where identified within systems to support a nuclear safety caseDemonstrable experience of technically managing complex design development throughout the design lifecycleAbility to provide expert technical advice and guidance to subcontracted design organisationsStrong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the discipline and project environmentExperience working within BIM environmentsAwareness of project planning, project management and budget managementStrong understanding of design, health & safety and quality procedures within complex engineering
projectsQualificationsDegree in Civil or Structural EngineeringChartered Engineer with membership of an accredited professional body, such as ICE, or working towards Chartered statusSignificant relevant experience may also be consideredSecurity ClearanceDue to the nature of the work, the successful candidate must be a sole UK national and be able to achieve and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.Why This Role?This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of major engineering programmes within one of the UK's most important strategic infrastructure environments.
