Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Cardiac Physiologist - CRM Training Lead for a 12-month fixed-term role within the Cardiology Diagnostics team. This is an excellent opportunity for an advanced practitioner to provide clinical leadership while developing and delivering a high-quality Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) training programme, as well as participating in the PCI cath lab service. The post holder will lead and implement structured training pathways, and support workforce development. Working closely with service leads, they will ensure alignment with national frameworks (e.g. STP, BHRS) and organisational priorities. Alongside training responsibilities, the successful candidate will act as an advanced clinical practitioner, autonomously delivering complex diagnostic investigations and expert clinical advice. They will contribute to service development, quality improvement, and the expansion of physiologist-led services, ensuring safe, effective, and,
- Lead and deliver CRM training programmes, ensuring alignment with national standards (e.g. STP, BHRS) and supporting staff development.
- Act as a mentor, educator and assessor for physiologists and trainees, ensuring competencies are achieved and recorded.
- Work as an expert cardiac physiologist, undertaking complex device implantation, programming and follow-up clinics autonomously.
- Provide specialist clinical advice and contribute to multidisciplinary patient management.
- Perform clinical duties including inpatient and outpatient device implant support, device follow up (both face to face and remote monitoring) and work in the cath lab for PCI procedures
- Support service delivery through leadership, staff supervision, and participation in 24/7 primary PCI and complex device on-call services.
- Contribute to quality assurance, audit and governance, ensuring high standards of patient care.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance training, service development and patient outcomes.
