Job Description

• Provide the highest standard of support and expectations, assisting children in achieving their maximum potential through the implementation of the SPELL framework and Quality of Life Frameworks. (Training will be provided as part of induction)
• Assist in the development of the curriculum/ curriculum maps.
• In accordance with curriculum maps, plan, deliver and review lessons which are appropriate to the age and attainment of the pupils and are relevant, motivational and adapted to enable autistic pupils to thrive academically, personally and socially.
• Always maintain a high professional standard of lesson preparation and delivery. Seek to integrate, as appropriate, multi-disciplinary or specialist advice into the teaching and learning process.
• To assume responsibility for classroom management including the environment, staff and children. Ensuring pupils participate fully in school life.
• Develop a provision of the highest possible quality of education and maintain a supportive atmosphere, ensuring the safety, protection and wellbeing of each child.
• Ensure effective use of formative and summative assessment to drive planning and interventions.
• Report on and discuss children's attainment, achievement and progress with parents and any other bodies that have statutory functions.
• Provide feedback to pupils that moves learning forward.
• As part of the Quality of life Framework, carry out keyworker duties, advocating for the child and family and maintaining weekly contact and liaising with relevant member of the therapy team and other colleagues across the school.
• Participate in consultation and parents' information evenings.
• Support all pupils throughout the day by fulfilling pastoral responsibilities and ensure regular professional contact is maintained with parents. Take account of the expectations of parents/carers and work with them to secure appropriate education for their child.
• To develop, implement, and review curriculum maps that support delivery of a diverse curriculum, maintaining an up to date knowledge of subject, pedagogical approaches and national developments.
• Work towards and support the school vision and the current school objectives outlined in the School Development Plan.
Embed the school's digital strategy into daily teaching practice by effectively integrating digital technologies to enhance learning, engagement, and outcomes for all pupils. Contribute to the broader life of the school and the school's programme of extra-curricular activities, enrichment strategy and educational visits to support the curriculum. Contribute to the annual review of pupils Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). And plan, teach and review against the outcomes outlined in pupils Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Understand key issues as they apply to pupils with SEN such as stereo-typing, equal opportunities, disability, rights, civil rights, and associated legislation. Always comply with Trust policies and procedures; including, but not limited to, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and employment policies. Work within the Trust's Equality and Diversity Policy to promote equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff, both current and prospective. Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, and conduct; and maintain positive, courteous relations with pupils, parents and colleagues. Engage actively in the appraisal and performance review process, and in relevant continuing professional development including engaging fully in our Trust's professional development programme. Working time is based on the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Documents. Planning and preparation time will be in line with union guidance and be a minimum of 10% of weekly hours. Teachers will be supported by a line manager who is a qualified teacher. Person Specification Essential Qualifications, Training and Knowledge Teaching certificate and qualified teacher status Excellent subject knowledge, and knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all pupils Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities Skills and Experience Proven track record of delivering on academic performance at Key stage 1 and 2 Experience of writing lesson plans, schemes of work, with appropriate adaptations for children with SEN Experience of developing resources and assessing pupils' work Able to create a safe learning environment where pupils are motivated and encouraged to raise their aspirations Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate positively with parents, carers and external agencies.
