Experienced Primary Teacher-Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
Victoria Drive is a warm, welcoming and inclusive Primary Pupil Referral Unit that prides itself on the highly effective working partnership with Wandsworth Primary Schools. It provides expert teaching and support to pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD). The core objective of the work is to sustain very low levels of suspensions by promoting the inclusion of pupils and strengthening schools' capacity to respond to pupils' needs.
We wish to appoint an experienced primary teacher, with an outstanding record of managing children with challenging behaviour and ensuring good progress. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and deliver the National Curriculum: primary curriculum, as well as delivering specific programmes aimed at developing the social and emotional skills of the pupils within the Pupil Referral Unit.
The successful candidates will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to working as a team to support vulnerable children. There will also be opportunities to work peripatetically to support pupils in their mainstream schools.
Experience of teaching within a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health setting is not required.
Visits to the PRU are essential.
