Full Job Description

  • Collaborative School Improvement
  • Work alongside headteachers and senior leaders to support self-evaluation, improvement planning and sustained progress.
  • Professional Learning & Leadership Development
  • Design, facilitate and model high-quality professional learning to build leadership capacity across schools and clusters.
  • Curriculum for Wales
  • Provide expert guidance to support the effective design, implementation and refinement of the curriculum, ensuring progression, coherence and high expectations for all learners.
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Promote and model evidence-informed pedagogy to improve learner engagement, progress and wellbeing.
  • System Leadership
  • Contribute to Local Authority priorities, ensuring alignment between school, cluster and LA improvement agendas.

    We are seeking to second inspirational and experienced senior leaders with a proven track record in school improvement to join our School Improvement Team for a one-year secondment (September 2026 - 18 July 2027).,
  • An experienced and highly effective senior leader (e.g. at least 3 years' experience as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or equivalent).
  • A strong track record of raising standards and leading successful school improvement.
  • Deep understanding of Curriculum for Wales, pedagogy and assessment.
  • A skilled communicator with the ability to influence, challenge and support school leaders.
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners.
  • The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in both Welsh and English in order to support schools and stakeholders across the Local Authority., An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk Welsh language level - verbal Level 5 - You will need to be able to communicate fluently in Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
