Full Job Description

  • Lead on service development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provides clinical leadership and governance oversight
  • Work autonomously managing complex clinical and operational decisions
  • A requirement of the role is that the successful candidate either holds, or will complete within the first year, the NMP qualification and will commence ANP training within 12 months.,
  • Identify the training needs of Primary care clinical staff. In conjunction with the H&J Lead Nurse and the Trust training department, develop a training programme which addresses the needs of staff.
  • Act as a resource on primary care delivery, providing information and support to staff.
  • Line management responsibility for Band 6 staff including appraisal and performance management
  • Encourage and facilitate staff in developing skills and knowledge of appropriate interventions for their patients.
  • Manage and provide supervision and training to staff in line with Trust policies.
  • Ensure appraisals are up to date and each member of the team has a personal development plan.
  • Develop clinical skills and systems to allow for effective triage, minor aliment management and appropriate referral to other healthcare services.
  • Participate in the induction and training of new staff, peers, junior staff and students.
  • Undertake mandatory training appropriate to healthcare and prison environment and ensure maintenance of fitness to practice.
  • Ensure that mandatory training is kept up to date and request training from line manager if further support required.
  • Ensure that any training undertaken is evaluated on completion and that skills acquired are utilised to enhance team performance and delivery of care.
  • Ensure individual performance and development objectives are met in accordance with the service aims and objectives.
