Introduction
Dover District Council have an exciting opportunity for a Preventions Administration Apprentice to join their team. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in a busy housing environment, supporting homelessness prevention services while developing administration, communication and customer service skills.
About the Employer
Providing local services to those who live, work and study in the Dover District. Services include planning applications, housing, benefits, council tax and licensing.
What You'll Do
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Preventions team by taking calls and doing administrative duties
- Support the Preventions Officers in the management of private rented accommodation
- Support the Housing Options team by managing the homeless referrals into the section
- Process and distribute the post to staff in a timely manner
- Gather relevant information from applicants to complete the
- Personal Housing Plan and make phone calls to update the Plans
- Gather relevant information from applicants to support housing applications
- Update HUUME with all relevant information relating to applications
- Arrange appointments for the Preventions Officers once all relevant information is available
- Provide information to the Senior Housing Options Officer/Housing Options Manager as required
- Communicate effectively in writing, face to face and/or over the telephone with colleagues, customers and other agencies
- Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with team colleagues and other agencies
- Ability to effectively manage your work
- Work effectively under pressure and prioritise your workload
- Work as part of a team and/or use your own initiative when required
- Ensure that agreed objectives and performance targets are achieved
- Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time
