Full Job Description

The Premises Officer, under the direct supervision of the Buildings and Facilities Manager and working closely with other members of the Estates Team, is responsible for delivering a professional, customer-focused, and efficient service to support the day-to-day operational needs of Brighton MET College. The role plays a key part in ensuring that college buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, secure, clean, and fully operational for students, staff, visitors, and external users. Duties include site security, room set-ups, basic maintenance tasks, porterage, health and safety checks, responding to emergencies, and assisting with the smooth running of campus activities and events. The Premises Team operates on a split-shift rota during the week to provide cover across all college opening hours. Flexibility is essential, as the role may also require occasional weekends, and overtime to meet operational requirements. Our Premises Officer will be reliable, proactive, practical, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to excellent customer service and maintaining high standards across the campus environment.

We have a fantastic range of staff benefits, highly competitive against what is offered by the private sector and other organisations, including:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme - the Group contributes 15% of your actual pensionable pay.
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 28 days in line with continuous service, plus bank holidays and college closure days over the Christmas period which are not deducted from annual leave entitlement. Plus, the opportunity to purchase up to 5 days additional leave.
  • Discount schemes - including discounts on shopping, restaurants, travel and onsite facilities such as our gym and First Steps Childcare nurseries (specific campuses only).
  • Family friendly policies - including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay (dependant on continuous service).
  • Continuous professional development opportunities - including development days, funded apprenticeships and access to a range of other courses and activities.
  • And much more - check out the Staff Benefits booklet attached to this advert for more information about our fantastic range of benefits available to staff.
  • Working in a vibrant and inclusive further education college is an inspiring experience. Our staff have a relentless focus on delivering outstanding teaching, learning and support, where you'll encounter a diverse student body, a positive atmosphere, ample support services, innovative teaching methods, community engagement and a celebration of individual differences. It's an environment that fosters personal growth and collaboration, to change lives through learning. Working Pattern. The shifts are worked on alternative weeks am/pm:
  • 6:00 - 14:00 / 13:30 - 21:30 (Monday to Thursday)
  • 6:00 - 13:30 / 11:00 - 18:30 (Friday)
