Pre Assessment Nurse - Endoscopy

The ERCP Specialist Nurse will play a pivotal role in delivering a safe, high-quality, and patient-centred ERCP service across University Hospital Tees. This new post has been created to strengthen the Trust's HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary) pathway, improve compliance with national BSG ERCP Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) standards, and address key patient safety risks associated with inadequate pre-assessment, stent tracking, and post-procedure follow-up.

Working as an autonomous practitioner within the multidisciplinary HPB team, the post-holder will lead the ERCP pre-assessment service, coordinate inpatient and outpatient pathways, support the consent process, and provide structured post-procedure follow-up. The role will also include responsibility for maintaining the Trust's biliary stent registry, ensuring timely stent exchange or removal, and reducing avoidable complications., The ERCP Specialist Nurse will act as the named lead nurse for ERCP within the Trust, supporting clinical governance, audit, and service improvement. The post-holder will contribute to MDT meetings, liaise with consultants, endoscopy teams, radiology, and surgical colleagues, and ensure that patients receive clear, personalised information throughout their ERCP journey.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced endoscopy or gastroenterology nurse to develop advanced skills in a specialist area, supported by a structured training and competency programme aligned to BSG standards. The role includes protected time for CPD, audit, and professional development, reflecting the Trust's commitment to high-quality care and continuous improvement.
