Practice Nurse, St Pauls Clinic

We are looking for an experienced and approachable Practice Nurse to join our team at St Pauls Clinic. The role will involve providing high-quality nursing care to our diverse patient population, including long-term condition management, cervical screening, immunisations, wound care, health promotion and other routine practice nursing duties. You will work closely with our GPs, Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacists, healthcare assistants and wider practice team, with the opportunity to contribute to how services are developed and delivered., The Practice Nurse will provide a range of nursing services to patients, working both independently and as part of the wider clinical team. Main duties will include:

• Long-term condition reviews and ongoing management.
• Cervical screening.
• Childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations.
• Wound care, dressings and suture or clip removal.
• Health promotion and lifestyle advice.
• Routine health checks and monitoring.
• Supporting patients with medicines and treatment plans within the scope of the role.
• Providing advice and education to patients about managing their health.
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records.
• Following infection prevention, safeguarding and clinical governance requirements.
• Working within practice protocols and current national guidance.
• Contributing to audits, quality improvement work and service development.
• Working closely with GPs, pharmacists, healthcare assistants and the wider practice team.

We are looking for someone who is confident working independently, organised, adaptable and comfortable in a busy primary care environment. Good communication skills are essential, as our patients have a wide range of health, social and communication needs. Experience in general practice is desirable, although we are happy to consider candidates with relevant transferable experience and a willingness to develop their primary care skills. This is a varied role in a supportive team where good ideas are welcomed and there is scope to shape the role around the right candidates experience and interests.

St Pauls Clinic is a busy GP practice in Newport, providing NHS primary care to a diverse local community. We work in an area with significant health inequalities and a wide range of clinical, social and communication needs. No two days are quite the same, and the work can be challenging, varied and genuinely rewarding. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacists, nurses, healthcare assistants and an experienced administrative team. We work closely together and make good use of the skills across the whole team. Our patients come from many different backgrounds and speak a wide range of languages.
