We are offering an exciting 12-month secondment opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join Langley Green Hospital as a Practice Nurse Educator (PNE), supporting our inpatient wards. This role is ideal for someone passionate about developing others, strengthening clinical practice, and shaping high-quality care within a busy mental health hospital. As the Practice Nurse Educator, you will play a key role in building a confident, skilled, and resilient nursing workforce. You will provide hands-on clinical education, support competency development, and help embed evidence-based practice across our wards. Working closely with ward managers, matrons, and the wider MDT, you will lead on training, supervision, and the creation of a positive learning culture that supports safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused care. This secondment offers a valuable development pathway for nurses aspiring to roles in practice development, leadership, or clinical education. You will have the opportunity to influence service quality, support staff wellbeing, and contribute to continuous improvement across the hospital.   • Delivering high-quality clinical skills training tailored to the needs of acute mental health wards.
  • Supporting staff to achieve and maintain required competencies, including risk management, and therapeutic engagement
  • Providing coaching and teaching to enhance confidence and capability in day-to-day practice
  • Offering structured clinical supervision and mentorship to nursing staff and students
  • Supporting newly appointed staff through a robust induction and early-career development programme
  • Acting as a visible, accessible point of support to guide safe and effective practice
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience, safety, and outcomes
  • Supporting audit activity, learning from incidents, and embedding evidence-based practice
  • Working with ward managers and matrons to identify training needs and address gaps in practice
  • Helping to build a positive learning culture that values professional growth, reflective practice, and continuous improvement
  • Supporting career development pathways and encouraging staff to work confidently
  • Promoting consistency, reducing variation, and strengthening the overall skill-mix across the inpatient workforce
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure training aligns with service priorities and patient needs
  • Contributing to service development projects that enhance the safety, quality, and therapeutic environment of the wards, The postholder will work closely with ward teams, matrons, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality education, coaching, and clinical support. You will help create a positive learning culture, ensuring staff feel confident, competent, and well-supported in their roles.

    Successful candidates are normally appointed to the bottom of the pay scale unless previous NHS experience in a similar role can be evidenced., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
