Full Job Description
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Practice Model Officer to join our Learning Academy and help us continue to embed this approach across the Trust. This is much more than a training role. You'll work alongside practitioners, managers and leaders to bring trauma-informed and relationship-based practice to life - helping colleagues translate the principles of Connections Count into the everyday conversations, decisions and relationships they have with children, families and each other. You'll design and deliver engaging learning, develop practical tools and resources, support teams directly and create opportunities for reflection and learning. You'll also use feedback, quality assurance and practice evidence to understand where our model is having an impact and where we need to strengthen our approach. We're looking for someone who understands children's social care, is passionate about trauma-informed and relational practice, and knows that meaningful change happens through relationships - not simply through processes. If you can engage, influence and inspire others and want the opportunity to shape practice across Birmingham Children's Trust, we'd love to hear from you. We have been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
- Significant experience in children's social care or a related field.
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed, attachment-aware and systemic practice.
- Experience designing, delivering and evaluating training and workforce development activity.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence, support and inspire others to develop their practice.
- A recognised qualification in social work, psychology, education or a related subject and relevant professional registration. Additional Information: Interview Date - Date to be confirmed. (In person or MS Teams) Onboarding Process Please note as part of our onboarding process, the successful candidate will be required undergo a series of background checks with Experian including Experian DBS, Experian Right to Work, and Digital ID verification. These are essential pre-employment requirements.
- A generous annual leave package of 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service and 35 days after 10 years of service.
- Free on-site parking at our offices on One Avenue Road (Aston) and Lifford House (Stirchley). We also provide onsite electric car charging ports which are free to use!
- Full access to our amazing internal employee benefits scheme including, Occupational Health services, Rewards Schemes, Benefits discounts (including the Blue Light Card), Health & Fitness and Personal Wellbeing support and much more!
- Flexible and hybrid working policy - we are well adapted to a hybrid model of working which includes a combination of time spent in the office and at home and we offer a variety of working patterns.
- Pension Scheme - You will receive a generous local government career average pension scheme in line with the local government pension scheme.
Birmingham Children's Trust is looking for a Practice Model Officer - Help us strengthen relationship-based, trauma-informed practice across Birmingham. Are you passionate about the difference that safe, trusting and meaningful relationships can make in the lives of children and families? At Birmingham Children's Trust, our Connections Count practice model places relationships at the heart of our work. It recognises the impact of trauma and adversity, the importance of understanding behaviour in context, and the power of relationships to create safety, build trust and support lasting change.
