Full Job Description
A exciting opportunity has arisen for a B6 Theatre Practice Educator. This is a full time position based on the Royal site. The role will include rotation to BGH Theatres as we cover their Educational requirements also. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality multi-professional learning environments within the Theatre Department and will be required to work locally within services where inter-professional learning opportunities can be provided. The post holder will be required to support the breadth of the student experience, which may require cross boundary working. The role will also include support for all members of staff within the Theatres Directorate and full support of Preceptorship Programme., Facilitating the development, and ensuring a sufficient provision of mentors/ practice supervisors across relevant service areas; providing supervision and support structures, building education in practice capability, consistency and efficiency. Structuring and coordinating inter-professional learning activity across a service area(s). Developing and maintaining links with Education Providers to support mentors and practice supervisors. Identify shortfalls in mentorship and practice and facilitate access to multi-professional mentorship and practice supervision programmes/ updates and training opportunities. Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for mentors/ practice supervisors and staff in relation to education in practice. Undertake designated projects in relation to learning and development to inform future activity and priorities for the team/Trust. Personal and people development Contribute to maintaining and improving own professional knowledge and competence, and that of mentors/ practice supervisors in practice. Participate in an annual, collaborative appraisal process to enable achievement of objectives and management of learning needs. Manage own workload independently and prioritising as required. Participate in clinical supervision/ professional mentoring. Contribute to ensuring that activity relating to student statutory and mandatory training is evidenced., Assessing the quality of practice learning environments; ensuring all service areas/ placement providers have up to date action plans in place. Facilitating the development, and ensuring a sufficient provision of mentors/ practice supervisors across relevant service areas; providing supervision and support structures, building education in practice capability, consistency and efficiency. Structuring and coordinating inter-professional learning activity across a service area(s). Participating in single multi-professional site visits across organisations. Developing and maintaining links with Education Providers to support mentors and practice supervisors. Processes for all healthcare students with HEIs and other relevant training providers. Identify shortfalls in mentorship and practice and facilitate access to multi-professional mentorship and practice supervision programmes/ updates and training opportunities. Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for mentors/ practice supervisors and staff in relation to education in practice. Undertake designated projects in relation to learning and development to inform future activity and priorities for the team/Trust.
- 1 st level degree
- Professional qualification, to a minimum of degree level, with up to date professional registration
- Willingness to undertake Masters level study relating to education in practice Desirable criteria
- European Computer Driving License, Broad range of clinical experience
- Experience of teaching, supervising and assessing healthcare students in the practice setting
- Experience of having worked across professional and organizational boundaries
- Practical experience of facilitating change
- Staff management/staff supervision
- Experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures, Knowledge of different methods/ styles for teaching and learning
- Detailed understanding of curriculum development including the generation of learning outcomes
- Detailed understanding of a range of regulatory body requirements
- In depth knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and framework
- Working knowledge of Inter-professional learning theory
- Microsoft office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of the private, voluntary and independent sector, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
