Full Job Description
Practice Development Nurse Oncology and Haematology Band 6 (30 hours a week)
We are a passionate, driven team and strive to deliver projects, innovation and education to benefit the amazing Gloucestershire Cancer Centre staff and patients. The NMC standards are at the heart of our professional values, particularly relating to evidenced based care. The key attributes for being a PD nurse are kindness, autonomy, a solid background and thirst for knowledge within Haematology/Oncology.
Additional working pattern details: Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday or Sunday for recruitment fairs of conference
A great opportunity to progress, become and educator, clinical specialist and staff advocate.
The oncology practice development team is a small, highly functioning, friendly and professional group. We are very supportive of each other and the wider nursing teams. Education and development are our key provision, and the new post holder will get plenty while they adjust to the role.
Eventually however, this is a very autonomous and independent working environment. Hence excellent organisational, self-management, interpersonal and leadership skills are required. Alongside, a level of experience, existing knowledge and clinical skills are required. The PD team cover four departments and the band 6's are expected to manage their own varied workload and deadlines, while covering the bleeps. With any small team there will days when you have limited senior support.
Good communication is required to manage staff effectively and deliver teaching. Need to build trusting working relationships within all four departments to ensure staff are psychologically safe to discuss sometimes personal, emotional and challenging issues.
Frequent use of PC.
There is an occasional requirement (once a week on average) to lift light objects of less than 10 kilos.
Ability to work in an environment where the work pattern is frequently interrupted and unpredictable due to the demands of working for more than one person.
High level of concentration required when completing some tasks.
We take pride in placing people at the centre of everything we do, working together as a united team. Driven by a shared ambition to continually grow, develop, and learn, we recognise and value every contribution. By combining our experience and skills, we not only support our vibrant, diverse communities, but also support one another.
With a team of over 9,000 employees, we are proud to be the largest employer in Gloucestershire and rank among the top 10 largest Trusts in the Southwest region. By joining our Trust, you will benefit from an excellent package that includes exclusive benefits, flexible working opportunities and the chance to gain valuable experience in one or both of our innovative hospitals.
As well as generous annual leave allowance, you will have access to the excellent NHS pension scheme, competitive bank rates, discounts at local shops and restaurants, access to two on-site nurseries, discounted public transport, reward and recognition and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.
