Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Broadmoor High Secure Hospital for the Practice Development Nurse role.
The post holder will be responsible for the promotion of continuous professional development of Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates and Health Care Facilitators in high secure services and must ensure that practice is carried out in a contemporary manner and in line with national standards.
In addition, the post holder will play a key role in maintaining and supporting the Trusts and the hospitals links to higher educational establishments as well as developing, supporting and reviewing the current educational needs of both nursing staff and students employed or on placement in the hospital.
The post holder will be required to provide direct training and will be expected to lead on or contribute to other quality improvement work related to patients' safety; patients experience and effectiveness., · Ensure that continuous professional development opportunities are available for nursing staff in the hospital.
· Ensure there are robust systems of effective secondary induction and preceptorship for staff in the hospital.
· Commission and undertake audit of clinical activity, performance and health outcome.
· Support the dissemination and introduction of practice standards related to competency expectations for all nurses within the hospital.
· Lead on Quality improvement programmes as agreed with line manager.
· Contribute to/monitor clinical supervision arrangements within the hospital.
· Monitor and audit clinical supervision activity.
· Provide direct training and teaching to nurses within the hospital.
· Work with colleagues to ensure that nursing practice and interventions are evidence based.
· Work collaboratively to develop a structure and culture that promotes reflective practice.
· Contribute to policy development and evaluation.
· Actively contribute to the implementation and evaluation of the Nursing Strategy/Nursing Practice within the hospital.
· In collaboration with others work to ensure national policy is integrated into clinical practice
· Benchmark national standards.
· Provide professional expertise and advice (i.e. complaints and investigations).
· Support Student Nurses on placement within High Secure Services when required.
