Full Job Description

Reporting to Dr Hana Navratilova, the Principal Investigator, the post holder will be a member of the Graffiti Gazetteer research project. This project, now in its second phase, is focussed on scaling up a digital research infrastructure that serves as a data repository for secondary epigraphy (graffiti) in Egypt. This phase of the project is supported by funding from the John Fell Fund, building on funding from Digital Scholarship @Oxford.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out research, data harvesting, and grant scoping for the next phase. They will lead data ingest, with a focus on data quality assurance, ensuring adherence to project data standards. They will work closely with the project's software development specialist.

The successful candidate will hold or be close to obtaining a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (ideally Egyptology, Archaeology or Classics). Equipped with knowledge or practical experience of agentic AI or AI-assisted workflows, they will have experience of Digital Humanities research and of working with geospatial data and ArcGIS, as well as with inscriptional or related archaeological datasets. They will bring experience of research data management and of contributing to grant development, funding applications or research proposal writing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as the situation requires, are essential.
