Post-Graduate Teaching Assistants

This post is for a Lecturer in Epidemiology (or Epidemiology and Statistics) 0.6 FTE. The core formal teaching of statistics is in the Practical Statistics for Mental Health Research module (currently taught using the STATA package). There is also some introductory teaching on the Core Principles of Mental Health Research module, additional refresher and support sessions later in the year, and the postholder provides some support for projects. This module has several Post-Graduate Teaching Assistants providing support for practical sessions. The postholder may be involved in additional duties such as organising journal club and a study group co-lead. Appointment details:

• The posts are graded on Grade 8 of UCL's Non-Clinical pay scale the annual salary which ranges from £56,431 to £66,437 (full time equivalent, including London Allowance).
• The appointment is available from 01/11/2026 for 1 year maternity cover.
  
  The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in a discipline relevant to mental health research, together with advanced training in statistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field. They will have experience of teaching statistics in higher education and be able to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly and engagingly to students from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a supportive approach to working with students, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively will be essential. A previous focus on mental health research is helpful, but not essential.
