Full Job Description

The Component Development and Research (CDR) Laboratory performs development and research activities on blood components, with the aim to improve clinical outcomes of transfusion and the manufacture of blood components as well as contributing to scientific research in this field. This is a technical and scientific role, responsible for delivering innovative research and evaluation projects under the direction of the Head of Department within Component Development and Research. The post holder will be required to develop and perform complex assays on the quality and function of blood components using specialist equipment, in addition to manufacturing novel blood components for research projects. You will be expected to lead the development of research studies, grant-funding applications and disseminate research findings through presentations, peer reviewed publications and reports, as well as be involved in exploring research and development opportunities with external collaborators.,

  • The post holder will be expected to lead in the production of peer reviewed publications, including posters, abstracts and presentations.
  • Design and lead research and development projects with and without supervision.
  • Generate projects for students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and act in a technical supervisory role in association with the student's academic body.
  • Source and complete grant funding applications for research projects
